My two cents on SX/MX

Hello all, got some stuff to talk about on my opinions in regards to MX/SX. There has been some major changes on how the sport is going to be ran, some good, some bad and I am sure that everyone out there that is a SX/MX fan will have an opinion on it. IMHO if they wanted to do some serious changes to help improve the sport, they still have some work to do, here are some of things I would suggest...

1. Keep the SX series to only 12 rounds; eliminate the 250 regional SX series and make it a AMA-Championship class with the same standing as the 450 SX class, that way you can attract sponsors with two legitmate championship series.

2. Bike restrictions: the engines (in both classes) have to be left stock. The only changes that can be made will be exhuast systems, jetting/F.I. mapping modifications, the use of aftermarket air filters/airbox mods, and aftermarket clutch modifications. All other modifications would be allowed (suspension, chassis) that are allowed in currnet AMA rules/guidelines.

3. Must use unleaded spec gas that will be sold by a designated manufacture by the AMA that does not exceed $2.50 a gallon. It will be made available to all racers and will be tested on a regular basis by an independent organization seperate of the AMA.

4. Bring back the AMA Grand National Championship for each class. If you score enough points in both the SX/MX races, even though you might not win an individual SX or MX title, you can qualify for the championship title and have a special background number plate that you are able to run the following next season on your bike. If you do win both MX and SX titles, along w/ the GNC title the AMA pays out a significant monetary bonus to the riders in each class as well, provided by sponsors of both series.

5. Provide more money to the racers; if you qualify for the night program in SX, regardless of class, you get $500.00 to cover expenses, regardless if you get into the Main Event
that night. If you make the Main Event, the 20th place rider makes $2500 and every position above that increases $100 per position to 4th place. If you finish on the podium, this is what you would make: $7500/3rd, $10,000/2nd,
and $15,000/1st. For the 250 Class you would still get the $500 to make the night program but cut the $$$ by 1/2 for monies earned compared to the 450 riders and you would still get $100 more per position past 20th place.

These are some of the things that I would suggest to further the sport of SX/MX along. I am not saying that I am correct and everyone else is wrong, these are merely my opinions and no one else's. Let me know what you think out there...Harry out
