I was browsing through the new Impound Magazine and ran across a breakdown of the prize money for a Supercross race. Unless I read it wrong, the winner of the 250 class walks out of there with $2500.00 before the tax man gets him. I can't see how anybody that is not independently wealthy or has one heck of a lot of good sponsors could possibly afford to do one season.

I am not even going to go any farther, you've all heard this argument before. Unless you are winning races, this sport will probably end up costing you a ton of money! If you finish up in 10th place you take home a whopping $420.00. I think I would rather get the RacerX Gas Card, doesn't that pay better?
I started thinking about this when I saw a post my buddy Mike Sleeter made about selling t-shirts to help him try and offset the costs of racing. He is one of the fortunate who has a job with KTM in testing and they allow him to race one of the bikes. The funny thing is he has probably the most “factory” bike of all the KTM riders. But you won't find him kicking it in the awning of the Big Orange semi, usually he is out back in the One Industries Motor Home which they are kind enough to provide for him.
Sleeter has decided to take matters into his own hands and has created (with design help) a really cool t-shirt that he's selling to raise money to finish out the season. The design work was done by Logan Darien, who is a former SX rider himself and now runs a design company called Project 7.

I'm selling shirts to help off set some of my cost from the first 6 west coast rounds. As of now i think I made 25 dollars after making 5 of the 6 Main Events and I'm trying to Rally some money together to get to Seattle, Salt Lake, and the first round of Supermoto so instead of having people just donate money I'm selling some Shirts designed by Logan Darien of Project 7. If anyone wants one you can go to PayPal, my e-mail is msleetdawg@yahoo.com, or send a check for 25 dollars which the extra 5 covers shipping. I wish I could float it myself, sorry.
