As a bright eyed photographer who had just landed a job at VitalMX.com, I wanted to really try and impress the top brass by doing something that would create a lot of traffic for the site. I knew it couldn't really be anything moto because GuyB had that pretty much covered. I asked myself "what do moto guys like other than dirt bikes?" There was only one answer to that: Hot chicks! Having just been married with a baby on the way, I wasn't really allowed to know any hotties so I did a quick search and found the newly crowned Miss Supercross Sara Lipert. She had just begun her reign and there wasn't that much on the web about her yet so I sent her a message via MySpace and a few weeks later we were taking photos down on the sand of Huntington Beach. I remember trying to play it all cool and acted like it was just another shoot, but the truth be told it was the first time I had ever done something like that. Fortunately she was very good at the modeling deal and it turned out great!
Over the past two years we have become good friends and have done a few other shoots in random places, one being up at Mountain High in the dead of winter, in howling winds so when you added that in it was probably about 10 degrees. She was a trooper and stood there in her little two-piece and took it like a true professional as I was almost to cold to even take a photo. Fast forward to now and the former Miss Supercross has found love and will be married at the end of this year, has become a very sought after hair stylist, and is also singing in a punk band named One Big Zero. I think they are really good! They are a good mix of a few bands I have enjoyed over the years. When it came time to get some photos done up for the band, Sara gave me a call and of course I was glad to do it. It was another first for me, shooting a band that is. If you want to check out some of their tunes click on this link, http://www.myspace.com/onebigzero, and for old time sake I have put together a gallery of some of the shots Sara and I have done over the years. Now go listen and come back and let us know what you think so I can tell her how you all feel about it! Thanks!
