What kind of transmission oil should I run in my 2004 KTM 125SX? I'm going to go to the dealer on Friday and POSSIBLE Monday. What should I pick up? What has the best protection for the clutch/gears, and overall everything? How many quarts do you normally pick up at a time?

For a 125, I would try Bel-Ray Gear Saver 80w. It's a little expensive but it's all I'll run in my YZ.

Yep Bel-Ray gear saver. If you have some $$ on you pick up about 3 bottles. Depends how far your dealer is.

Ok, I'll try that, but isn't it bad to switch oil frequently? How much is it per bottle? My nearest KTM dealer is about 30 - 40 min away, but my nearest Yamaha dealer is about 10 minutes away. Could I pick that stuff up at any dealer, I would think so, but not sure?

Gear Saver is a waste of cash. 10 bucks a bottle(CDN) for one oil change?!
Where i could do 2 or 3 with any other oil such as ATF or ANY 10W-40 oil.
Me personally I run ATF Type F.

It works out the same. 2 or 3 changes with ATF type F, or 1 change with Bel-Ray Gear Saver.

its 7 bux where i live. And KTMRoost it should be at any dealer and changing your oil more frequently is good. Change it about every 2-3 rides. If there little short rides then it dosne't matter but like long rides then change it 2 - 3 maby even 4 if there not that long. I usually look by the colour of the oil, knowing if its time to change it or not. And I try and keep track on how many times iv rode it.

Bullwinkle, but if you are a religious oil changer like me, then I can do three oil changes to ONE oil change with gear saver. IE I can change my oil every once every ride for three rides, for the price of one bottle of belray. If you get what I'm saying.

How long would be a long ride to you? When I ride, I maybe ride for about 45 minutes. When going to a track, you know how to go out there and ride, come back, shut off your bike, relax for a while, then go back out there, would that be considered 1 ride or 2 rides?

I consider a full day of riding as 1 ride. In your scenerio, practice the night before would be 1 ride, and race day would be ride #2.
Derek, I see what you're saying. ATF would be cheaper for me also, because I change my oil every 2 rides....but I wouldn't go so far as to say motorcycle specific oil is a waste. I know what your views on the subject are and you know what mine are, so we'll just leave it at that. As with anything involving science, there is controversy.
