Yah I was on my 80 once, and I was battling with this other kid on an RM85 during practice, and the dad, who wasn't even supposed to be out there, was like yelling at his son to go faster and to ride more aggressively and hit the big table and stuff...It was crazy....

It's stupid. Sure, it's good to support and encourage your kids, but yelling and being mean is not the answer to helping your kid become faster. Might help the kid lose interest in the sport, though.

Not into the mini-Parents thing - you are only a kid once I figure !!

It seems that it takes away from the fun of it when Dad/Mom/Uncle Buck get all jumpy.

But parents have all kinds of stesses as well to cope with at the races too.

I actually had a "nice talk" with a dumb-ass "soccer-dad" menal case like that once. He had his boy in tears.

Luckily, he calmed down and appologized to his son, and everyone who witnessed the scene.

I say "luckily", because this guy was much bigger than me, and could have easily kicked my ass!

I hate when parents are like that. I see them all the time at the races. My friends dad (when I lived in Tampa) was an excellent parent. My dad would always just sleep in the truck until our moto then he would watch to make sure we didnt get hurt but my friends dad would tell us 2 good things about our riding then he would tell us exactly what we were doing wrong, then walk us over to that part of the track or to the bike and show us how to correct it. He would tell us exactly what to do to fix the problem and then we would try what he said then he would give us more tips based on what we did. That was when me and my friends were racing 65s. When we did, we were unstopable. I ussualy came in like the top 5 and then right after would be my friend sean, then my brother. Sometimes our order got switched around but ussualy that was how it was, basicly just because I was older, sean was second oldest, and my brother was youngest and was a little more afraid of things. But basicly what Im saying (I know guys, haha I always have a story, I feel like an old grandpa) is when you parent like that, your kids go places. Yes you gotta criticize them but you gotta praise them for what they are doing right. And when you criticize them you gotta tell them how to fix it.

Yes, I think I know exactly where people are coming from. I'm going to start racing this year and if all my mom said was "You suck, I don't even see what you want to race, you suck so bad...." blah blah blah, I know I wouldn't want to race anymore because there is no support what so ever. Support is pretty much what can make or break ya.

I hate when i seen dads like that at races.. I can't count how many times I've seen a dad gettin on his son that just started racing. I was at a race about 3 years ago and as i was coming back from practice the 85s were goin out to practice.. There was a kid and his dad parked 3 spots down from us and from the minute the kid got on the track to the time he got off his dad was out there givin him sh!t. Runnin to different parts of the track yellin stuff at him.. Then when the kid got back to his trailer his dad was using a pretty loud tone of voice with him sayin if he didnt put some effort into hit was gonna pack their shit up and leave and how terrible he looked out there cause he wasnt hittin on the jumps .. Just flat out rippin this poor kid a new ass.. Finally after his first moto, my dad heard enough of the kids dad yellin at him and went and had a talk to him.. Luckily no punches were thrown and the kids dad easied up a little.. My dad never really got on me about ridin because he rides on tracks too so he knows what its like.

ive had my trouble with parents. my lil brother.. a 85 rider.. gets protested by some asshole dad just because his kid was down in points after only riding 1 out of the three tracks in the series.. he comes in at the last moment riding all the tracks trying to rack up points. so what does he do? this is 85 C class.. and theres a gap in the rule for the Bigwheel 85s/ This dude( nick stephens racing) protested every single one of the kids riding 85 big wheels. Theres a major gap in the AMA's rules there and it doesnt specify rules for 85 C nor anything about big wheel bikes for this class. by the way.. he ended up finishing third in the series because of these protests.. they knocked all these kids down in points because of the DNF's they received. shows what some people will do just to win an 85 C series. then at the banquet( which we didnt attend) my friends were over there sitting at a table and the kid comes up and says whatd u guys finish and they said whatever they got... and then the kid says haha i ended up with 3rd overall... and just bragging n all this crap. i really dont like when parents get involved with their kids racing. its like that in many sports. let the kids race or play their sport. be there to support them.. not make hell for other people and especially dont make it hell for your own children. ( note: after all of this is said and done... we find out the district allows 85 big wheels in the class... after these kids lost all their points)
