It was pure joy to watch the similarly aggressive riding styles of Trey Canard and Justin Barcia leading moto two, both trying to not only outdo one another, but put a gap on a pack of riders that wasn't having any of it.

Tommy Searle and Ryan Dungey, here dicing back and forth through the front sand whoops section, was one of many fantastic races going on in the front of the field during moto two.

Actually, only Villopoto was tripling up the hill in the background ahead of Reed here, as the Aussie chases both RV and Josh Grant up toward the top of the back section.

The 2006 and 2008 FIM World MX2 Champions lined up on either side of the dog house for at showdown that's been in the works for several years. This time, Pourcel came out on top, but in moto two the tables turned.

Max Anstie's debut didn't go as well as many had hoped. He was fast, for sure, but in this group "fast" was not enough. He didn't race moto two, and we don't know what the reason was.

Justin Barcia stepped up to the big league in a big way at Glen Helen. At 16 years old, he led significant chunks of both motos and ended up 3rd in moto 2.

Barcia had no problem moving right on over against the current world champion, as Dungey, Lemoine and Canard try and chase down Tommy Searle for the holeshot award.

Check out the lead Mike Alessi already has on Villopoto just halfway up the start straight. Both RV and Reed got a bit sideways out of the gate, while Alessi was straight as an arrow with an open gate to his right. He kept it pinned and moved over on the riders to his right, namely Andrew Short and Josh Grant, to nail the holeshot once again.
