Monster Energy/Pro Circuit's French import is aging nicely, as he dominated both motos at Unadilla in a manner we haven't yet seen this season. He instantly found his way to the front in both motos and **checked out**, waving bye-bye to all of the B riders that lined up with him. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but Pourcel definitely put on a school at the 'Dilla's 40th anniversary event.

Reed was not to be challenged on this day in upstate New York, either, as the now dominant points leader sped off early in each moto for relatively easy moto wins. He was quite pleased with himself too, and admittedly has had lackluster rides here in the past. He got this monkey off his back though, and heads to Budds Creek with a nearly insurmountable points lead which will likely result in his first ever professional motocross title.

It was the return of Muscle Milk/MDK/KTM's Martin Davalos that supplied the moto 1 holeshot, as the entire Pro Circuit team pulled in behind him to give chase. Davalos' lead was short-lived, though, as Pourcel and a whole bunch of other 250 class fast guys found their way around him early in the moto. Davalos ended up DNF'ing both motos.

It was another KTM up front for the start of the 2nd 450 moto, when Justin Brayton sprinted to the first turn first, just ahead of Andrew Short who quickly found his way around. After that, Chad Reed worked his way through the first pack to chase down Shorty and walk away with what would end up as a perfect day for him.

Ryan Dungey, sporting the same gear as all of the Fox-sponsored "A" team on this Unadilla retro day, is seen here putting some time between himself and Blake Wharton. Dungey went 2-2 behind Pourcel, as the top 4 in the class once again repeated their first moto performances and overall finishes. Pourcel 1-1, Dungey 2-2, Weimer 3-3 and Metcalfe 4-4.

At the end of lap one in the first 250 moto, Pourcel reminded Davalos that he was in his spot, and moved by nicely to take the lead and wave bye-bye.

Austin Stroupe (welcome back) leads Dungey, Barcia and Metcalfe through the section just past the infamous Gravity Cavity. Stroupe at times looked to be almost fast enough to stick with the front group, but he crashed several times throughout both motos and definitely struggled a bit after a long absence from the field. It seemed like he and Barcia found each other quite a few times, with Stroupe getting the upper hand in moto two coming across the line in 6th.

As is plain to see in this photo, the Unadilla track rutted up perfectly and offered plenty of line selections in every corner. Despite that, the surface was still slick, gravely and rocky, which means where ruts didn't develop the racing became one-lined. For the most part though, the riders were OK with the track and probably enjoyed a bit of variety in the surface compared to many of the others on the circuit.

Justin Barcia enjoyed a homecoming of sorts, as he's originally from the state of New York. Although he's been based out of the Millsaps Training Facility in Cairo, GA for several years, he was greeted to a hero's welcome by many of the fans on hand, who were sporting signs, shirts and waiting in long lines for a chance to see their boy in the flesh once again. Barcia had a rough day, though, going 7-10 for 8th overall.

Few people know with complete certainty why Austin Stroupe has been away from the starting line for so long, but the official word is he spent the time recovering from a pelvis injury sustained at a Hangtown tangle with Justin Barcia. Regardless, Austin finally made it back and looked pretty solid for the most part, despite several crashes. He worked his way through the pack pretty well, though, and worked back up to 6th in the 2nd moto, which says a lot in the 250 class this season.

While Windham wasn't exactly a road block out on the track, he definitely was off the pace a bit for the pack he started out in. He did dice a fair bit with the youngsters throughout the motos, but looked to pretty much back it down in the 2nd moto, and actually got lapped by Pourcel in the final couple of laps. Probably not what he was hoping for as far as results, but there were definitely times where he seemed to be having a good time, and that's good for everyone. He'll be on a 450 next weekend in Budd's Creek.

Michael Byrne has done well at Unadilla in the past, and just seems to get along with the slick and tricky high speed track. He landed on the podium with his teammate and fellow Aussie ex-pat Reed, snaring the 3rd place overall trophy for his efforts.

Having the coolest looking bike in the pits can sometimes add pressure to a rider's sense of having to provide a top finish. Fortunately, the ugly gear balanced that out for Andrew Short, as he rode a strong and consistent day to finally get back up onto the podium after a few weekends off. With a 5-2, it's clear that the rest of the pack wasn't so consistent, but Short's health is improving as the season progresses and he should be able to put a lock on 2nd place for the series without too much trouble.

The #48 was awesome in the first moto, coming in 2nd again behind Speedy Reedy. Moto 2 wasn't quite so hot, although he did start out pretty well - here Tommy's seen checking the graphics on his rear fender before remounting after a fall early in the moto. He was only able to get back up to 16th by the end though.

Part 2. This time, it appear, he's all heeled (pun intended) up and ready to rumble. He was super fast all day, often putting down the fastest lap while mired in the back of the pack after bad starts or crashes. His 11-7 finishes aren't an indication of how well he actually rode, though, because with good starts it looked like Timmy would've been on the podium for sure.

Filling in for Dietrich who was filling in for Laninovich who was filling in for Ryan Beat who was covering for Ryan Villopoto... oh well, regardless, the MX1 GP rider put in a fairly solid day as a Monster Energy Kawasaki factory rider. Swany went 7-6 at Unadilla, which is slightly better or about the same as he typically does in the GP's. Hmmm....
