Let’s talk about The Rookie, shall we? He stalked and stalked and stalked his teammate Brett Metcalfe in moto one while running fourth, just inches from the veteran’s wheel. The two Geico Powersports Honda riders were the talk of the town as they went at it for 3rd place (while Dungey and Pourcel were gone way out front), until finally Barcia made his move. And what a move it was, as the two neary collided in the air over a jump but managed to maintain their ballet on the ragged edge just enough to not collide as Barcia moved into 3rd. The 2nd moto, Justin holeshot and led a couple of laps before the dynamic duo made their way past and the kid simply dropped the anchor. Fortuately for him, he was so far ahead by that point that it didn’t matter, and he came home 3rd anyhow.
